You will have a lot of freedom and responsibility, and there is a lot of room to grow in the company. You must be self-motivated and able to excel without someone looking over your shoulder all of the time. We prefer people who are intellectually curious and like to solve problems. Ideally, you’ll be curious about the business side of what we do and play a role beyond your day-to-day responsibilities. These qualities are more important than experience, but experience can help tell us if you’ve got those qualities.
Specifically, we’re looking for:
- B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- Experience with Ruby, Ruby on Rails, AJAX , Javascript (Prototype), HTML/CSS, Subversion, and open source in general are a must.
- MySQL, Capistrano, Mongrel, Linux, Memcache, Apache, and XML are all good to have.
- Strong understanding of usability, accessibility, architecture and design.
- Unit testing, MVC, and other design patterns.
- It’s great if you’re interested in working with AWS services and the like.
- Self-directed, methodical, and detail-oriented.
- Very good communications skills: you’ve got to be able to describe what you’re doing, why you’re doing it, and discuss the best ways to get things done.
