Work at readMedia
What kind of people do we hire?
Great people—through their creativity, talent, and willingness to learn—are essential to the success of our company. We seek hardworking, enthusiastic people who are interested in an environment that fosters an entrepreneurial spirit, allows employees to advance based on performance, and rewards them for helping readMedia thrive.
Joining readMedia means enjoying a fluid work environment where your only boundaries are your ability to perform and your willingness to grow. There is no typical corporate hierarchy—no rigid structure or barriers between people, departments, or ideas.
We prize intellectual curiosity, self-direction, and enthusiasm for work above all. We’re much less interested in the “right” resume than the right set of talents and capabilities. We look for a diverse range of individuals in our search for employees. We like to see analytical ability, indepencence, and a record of success at whatever you’ve done; a varied, interesting background gets our attention. We welcome the past experience and unique perspective each individual brings to our collective culture at readMedia.
readMedia loves interns and grants the best ones real responsibility and meaningful experience running a company. We accept internship proposals throughout the year and are happy to work with your school to match whatever for-credit programs are in place.
If you see yourself succeeding in our environment, please drop us a line at jobs readMedia com and describe what you like about our business and how you’d like to contribute.

Inside sales star who is ready for more
readMedia is looking for someone who loves to sell, knows how to identify great sales talent, and wants the chance to build, manage and lead a team of talented sales professionals. We want to find someone who has climbed the ranks from sales through management without losing the love of closing deals. A person who has built from scratch and can’t wait to do it again, but with the advantages of a compelling company vision, world-class product, and strong support team.
readMedia’s software solves a crucial pain point for state and local government, local businesses, colleges, universities, boarding schools and others. More important, it presents those organizations with new opportunities to market themselves at a grassroots level. Most potential end-users are stuck “doing things the old way” so it’s important to be able to sell strategically to the upper levels of every organization. While the pricing and features of readMedia’s products can’t be beat, we prefer to hire sales professionals who sell value and ROI.
You must be able to sell, and demonstrate that you’re effective within weeks of starting. Our goal is that you not only carry your own book of business, but become the core and leader of a new sales team, so you must be a self-starter who can set goals and deadlines, recruit and manage excellent team members, and hold yourself and others accountable. Currently we sell over the phone, though you may have the opportunity to attend target-rich trade shows and help us refine and extend our sales strategy.
At a minimum, any applicant must demonstrate:
- Success in selling solutions to non-technical buyers;
- A record of carrying—and beating—a quota;
- Comfort with, and knowledge of, online technology, web applications and social media;
- Ambition and a desire to succeed.
readMedia is a small, fast-growing company with awesome products and devoted customers. Our software helps public communications, PR and marketing professionals—and the organizations who can’t afford to have a staff of people like that—successfully get their news to their audience. You’ll have the chance to grow with the business and your upside is unlimited.
Because we’re selling a new product at breakthrough pricing, there will be evolution in the compensation for this position. We want someone who understands this. Our main goal is to bring on someone who knows and loves sales and can grow our top line. Prove that you can do that, and we’ll make sure you’re paid well enough to never want to leave.
Why work for readMedia?
readMedia is a young, fast-growing company that gives employees the chance to make a very big difference in a short time while participating in the transformation of the media industry. We offer a competitive salary, equity, a workplace that encourages you to have a life of your own, and people who appreciate what you can do. We’re not a sweatshop and there’s very little ego here. We value people who contribute thoughtfully and well to our efforts and share our commitment to excellence and dedication to our customers. Your career here will only be limited by your desire and ability to contribute to our overall success. You will of course also get health and dental, paid holidays, a Simple IRA with a matching plan, paid parking, and a cool looking office.
